How to Add Negative Space Cutouts Illustrator

This is a easy and simple tutorial for adding Negative Space Border Cutouts using Adobe Illustrator

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• A desktop computer (i use a macbook)

• Creative Cloud or

• Adobe Illustrator Subscription

Instructions

Negative Space Outlined Border Cutouts

1. Open Adobe Illustrator and Place Vectors

2. Select the object/shape you DON’T want to cut

   • Go to top menu bar, select: Object —> Path —> Offset Path

   • Select Thickness: 3mm, Round, 4

3. Select Offset Path Vector and Other Vector that you’re cutting parts from

   • Select Shape Builder Tool

4. Hold Down Option Key and click overlapping parts to remove

5. Delete offset path we created
